Greater than what? Greater than you or me or the five minutes left on your parking meter that’s ten minutes away. Or the letter from the Multnomah County Division of Assessment, Recording and Taxation that you don’t understand but is full of large numbers.

<Greater Than> is a state of mind that affirms—despite the pylons, panty raids and pestilential fire balls of daily living—that you will be all right; that you will have enough strength to pull yourself to the next level. It’s a chance to stick it to that kid in elementary school who squealed on you trying a different method. The thrill of sanding down to the wood and then lacquering back up, full of color and luminous. The Goo-Gone that peels away layers of labels pasted on by followers of the creed of Lesser Than.

A <Greater Than> world is one where every individual is turning shortcomings into strengths and  strengths into blessings. A world where a challenge is a chance to grow, not an achilles-whacking assault. In the <Greater Than> world, everyone has an open mind and a generous heart; with eyes on a clear horizon, we’re dancing, popping wheelies, or otherwise defying gravity.

Wouldn’t that just be <Greater Than>?
