From the Piggy Banks of Babes…

Following our successful run of PSYkO last November, Lane Hunter › Dance was officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) Organization. And we’ve already had our first donation of 2012. Natalie and Kate Daley (the daughters of LH›D Board member Lesley Daley) wanted to make sure that the next LH›D show, Shotgun, happened soon. The sisters (ages 4 and 9) have a wonderful financial system including one bucket for money to save, one for money to spend, and one for money to give away. Kate had been saving her dollars to save the pandas but quickly decided that the more obvious and globally beneficial act was to give it to us. [Sorry Panda's, you should have been a non-profit.] Natalie on the other hand had a little trouble discerning play money from the real deal but eventually was able to divide what she wanted to give to LH›D and what she would give to other worthwhile causes. The donations were delivered in Ziploc baggies with personalized Post-it notes.

My initial thought was that these donations were so stinking cute I should frame them. But then, I thought the “Greater Than” thing to do is to use this money to make the best show possible. That’s what I do with every donation I get.

Fortunately for you, the process is even easier. You can follow the good example of these young philanthropists by clicking this link and help us begin work on Shotgun!

Thank You Kate and Natalie! I’ll do you proud and can’t wait to see you at the show.
