The Beginning Is Here

For those of you who came to the inaugural performance of Lane Hunter {dance} it was an amazing first move. Since then I expected, like the great sculptor Gustav Vigeland, to be scooped onto the shoulders of people on the streets and lauded as a hero. Afterall, what many may not know is that every step of choreography, every stitch of costuming, every promotional item and publicity material was made and paid for by me. It was my litmus test to see if I could make a show on my own. It was a thrilling experience to work full time for BodyVox by day and then ride the bus home to spend all evening figuring out the next moves and build a few costumes. I even repeatedly turned down Thanksgiving invitations so that I could spend the day uninterrupted to work on the show while eating a turkey frozen dinner. However, it also depleted my resources. I was completely spent and had spent everything to take on this challenge all with the hopes that the “Universe” might reward me for my efforts.

In a way, I guess it has but not how I’d expected. For starters, I’m not filthy rich…yet. What I have learned is that the title of the show, “The Beginning Is Near” was more prophetic than I thought. It is indeed to beginning, not the end. The end is when you can rest. But if I want to create a company, where I can further hone my talents while providing my community, city, and world an art-rich environment, then I need to stop riding shotgun and grab the wheel.

I have been working on the foundation of the company and have some good ideas, good support, and bright outlook. I hope that you will join me on this journey because it will be more fun if we all join in.

    Thanks BernieR,

I am planning on continuing this article but I think the blog section will give more incremental updates. It’s hard to tell when things happen so the blog documents the little day to day happenings and this section will reveal more substantial milestones. Thanks for checking in.
